Water-Link

Water-Link launched an architectural competition for the new construction of an Intelligent Control Center from which the drinking water supply of large parts of Flanders will be monitored.

The design was based on a control tower and added extra program to the competition criteria regarding awareness of drinking water use and the educational aspect of a drinking water company. Various extremely sustainable techniques were applied in the design.

The integral building is heated and cooled by the natural flow process of drinking water in the clean water basements, from which the heat is recovered via heat exchangers in the basement structures. The building is manned 24/7 and forms the keystone of the developments of the purification facility in Rumst.
