Van Zon Lommel
Project description
The Van Zon family operates various wholesale businesses in catering supplies in Flanders. The phenomenal growth and success of the company necessitated the construction of a central distribution center from which the various branches can be supplied.
A logistics complex was designed on the sandy soils of Lommel with a freezer building of 2,000 m², a positively cooled building of 2,800 m², and an ambient DC of 8,600 m² with approx. 2,200 m² of associated office and administrative services.
The project functions as an extremely energy-efficient building where the residual heat from the freezer cooling, in balance with open geothermal energy and a very large PV installation, provides virtually all the necessary energy to cool and heat the entire 15,250 m² building.
